@Give_Me_Credit_Please wrote:I really don't think approvals go by score but more about the content of your CR, it seems like Walmart and store cards are inconsistant on their approvals. You can be in the 500's with good history and get approve versus 600's with slow pay or baddies and get denied. So scores don't make much of a big difference as long as your content meets their standards.
There are certainly some triggers that freak out the automated system for applicants with higher scores. Those same triggers are most likely not present on the reports of applicants in the 500s. Therefore, I somewhat agree with this statement. Though I'm not certain it's possible to have a score in the 500's with good history, per se. There has to be some sort of not-so-clean information on a CR to have a 500-599, I would imagine.

After approval does it really take the 7-10 days to receive the card?
Yes. You can usually use it online before then, though.
I was approved for $300 last month with a 646 TU. I was very surprised because I burned in my bankrupcty, discharged in 2/12. My card arrived exactly 7 days after I applied for it. I like getting my TU score every month.
@jwest congrats on your wallycard, remember GE luvs you, But you gotta love them first! Every GE card ive gotten has got awesome luv on the cli, but never late always use a lil and PIF or carry a small balance in some months..at least has worked for me.
Thanks guys for all the helpful advice
It is easier to get a Discover IT card than a Walmart Discover card and the benefits of the regular Discover are way better except for the free FICO score...
Yes I agree with you. Automated system has a criteria to pass.
