Today I went against my no credit applying goal and applied for a walmart credit card. I was approved with a CL of $800, my highest card yet. I don't do very much shopping at Walmart, but GEMB seems to like me (this is my third card with them), and have read about how easy it is to get a CL increase, and this talk about being able to be upgraded to a Discover card helped push me into applying. APR is high (22% range) but since I pay all my cards in full each month I dont mind.
Congrats! Nice starting limit. Any idea which CRA they pulled? (edited for typo)
I am fairly certain it is TU. I applied for a walmart card when I started to rebuild my credit back in March, and they pulled TU. GEMB has also pulled TU for Amazon and ChevronTexaco, so it looks to be their CA of choice at least in WA state. Thankfully Ive had about a 100 point increase in the last three months in my TU score.
Do you mind sharing your scores when you got approved?
Mine are TU 690 and EQ 688. Trying to figure out if I will get approved.
Congrats!!
Congrats!!!
You sure have aquired a LOT of new credit in the last 4 months, I'd go into gardening mode for a while and let these babies age.
But congrats again!!

You have a pretty good chance of getting approved for a Walmart store card at a TU FICO of 690.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm trying to be very careful about apps. The only INQ I have are from moving 2x in the last 2 yrs, but my utilization is high, so I think I'll hang back in the weeds for a bit and continue to pay my balances down and watch my score rise.
As much as I want the Walmart card, I keep thinking of what this site taught me - to not apply for credit unless you really need it. And I truly just need to pay my balances down, so I'll be a good girl and just wait.
