I just received my walmart store card. I've been reading forums that every 4th statement a lot of people get cli. I wanted to know the best possible way to have the best chances. I have a $500 credit limit. Was planning on buying $50 worth and pay off each month is that good idea or would it be best to leave a few dollars on. Any help is appreciated.
Welcome to the forum. Most have had the best luck by having a small balance report when statement cuts. After statement cuts to avoid interest pay off balance by due date. After 4 statements cut you can ask for a CLI.

How do I know when the statement will cut. I got my card 2 weeks ago. Thanks for all your help!
Set up your online account it will show when it posts or you can call them. If you set up paperless statements online you will get a free TU credit score each month also.

Heavy use + posted balances = success with GE CLIs.
And yes, you can (and should) keep the balance that posts low.
It's different for everyone, but below I have listed my reporting balances for each month along with credit increases. I did not let a balance report all 4 months before requesting an increase. I hope this info. helps.
Starting Credit Limit $600
I applied on Friday night and was approved for 700. Called the back door number Saturday morning, asked for $3,000 - denied, but they countered with $1,400.
That's 2x the original credit line in 12hrs.
