Last night I was shopping on Amazon with my Discover, after I was done, I placed my Discover on my night stand and placed the iPad on top of the card. Then this morning I tried to use my Discover and it said card error. The magnets in the iPad damaged my Discover! Fortunately I have 3 other designs so I just switched online.I did some research and the magnets on the left side of the iPad are pretty strong, so keep your cards a good distance away to keep them nice and healthy
Thanks. I shop on line all the time using my Ipad. Good info!

Yeah, I noticed my iPad mini 2 started to heat up sometimes at the same location you just mentioned, when I'm not even hardly using it.
I wonder if this would effect a cards EMV chip. I can see it effecting the strip because it's magnetic, but can the chip be ruined with magnetization?

I am not 100% sure but I don't think so.
I used to wipe my cards all the time when I used handbags and wallets with magnetic clasps. No more bags with magnets. It's been so long, almost forgot about it, and didn't think about the iPad magnets. I will be careful from now on.
