Re: Was the boa hard pull worth it?

I'll go long and say unless you need it for a purchase, a HP for a CLI is never worth it.

So recently i got a boa cash rewards card. Sl 5,000. Had it for 2 months. I have read this card can grow alot with some transunion hard pulls. I have also read of people getting to hit the cli button after 3 months, some 6. My question is when did you hit the button and was the increase worth the pull?

Bank of america is one of my favorite banks. I'm admittedly a credit union / small town bank fanatic, but even then I love Bank of America.

For me, I can judge how BOA views my credit based upon a few things.  The initial denial, then having it reconsidered more than once, and finally needing their (then) new amtrak card that desperately, my 4th attempt that day was with a cosigner.  And even that required escalation.  But this was years ago and I really didn't have much credit, even though my scores were ok.  I was approved with a paltry 2100 limit, 10x less than my cosigner, and their highest APR of 22%.

In just a month they increased my limit to 3800, and offered me a balance transfer. I didnt need it but I used it anyway.  By 6 months, we each took a TU HP, I asked for 15k, they gave me 10k, and the card was split into only my name.  I couldn't believe it!  Then as time went along it went from 10k to 15k then to 25k (the amount I requested).

Also as time went along my apr reduced to 19.99 to 17.99 to 15.99.  I think its even less than that now.

TLDR  yes, TU hp is invaluable for BOA.  Use it within 30 days as a freebie no HP app, and get their premier rewards travel card, but be aware of their 2/3/4 rule ( applies to BOA personal cards only,  you may not open more than 2 cards per 2 months, 3 cards per 12 months, 4 cards per 24 months).

Also, and not judging but with your profile I would do the the following with these cards:

Discover IT 2,800 (ask for increases every 30 to 90 days, when the card is 90 days old take a HP and ask for the limit you really need, otherwise it probably will grow quickly, then again, its a category card so your limit is fine, but it always functions as a 4.99% card) ~Hilton AMEX, 1,000 (Watch out for the new hilton amex cards coming out in january these may be of interest to you, and between all your amex cards, you should look up the 3x cli rule here if you havent already. ~ Wells Fargo cash 1,500 (when you are ready you could apply for the world propel amex which has 40k points and 0% for 12 months, must apply in branch or by phone) ~ Lowe's 12,000 ~ TJ MAXX 400  (close this card)~ American Eagle 350  (close this card)~ Old Navy visa 300 (close this card) ~ Boa cash 5,000 ~ Citi Costco 4,000 (ask for increases every 6 months as well as apr reductions) ~ Marvel 7,000 ~ Ebates 12,000 ~ Paypal mc cashback 1,000 ~ Walmart store card 6,000 ~ Gap store card 6,000 ~ Jcpenny 4,000 ~ QVC 5,000 ~ Macys 9,000 ~ Bloomies AMEX 2,000 ~ Victoria's Secret 3,500 ~ Buckle 2,500 ~ Kohl,s 2,500~ Sunglass Hut 2,000~ Blispay ~ 2,000 ~ Cap One Buypower ~500 (close this card unless you know you will use the points) ~ Cap1 Quiksilver1~ 1,350 (ask for increases every 6 months and also check to see if you're eligible to upgrade to the regular no AF version, but you are probably bucketed in to the tier with the higher APR so I would just get rid of it unless you have patience, it took me 3 years to get to my CL of 11k, but still have a godly high APR of 25.24% ridiculous!) ~ Maurices ~300 (close this card) ~ Amazon store card 5,000 ~

Be aware of targeted savings/checking offers, they may be $300.  I would focus on refining your lineup and maximizing the amount of cash back you get, sign on bonuses, recurrent promotions, etc.  Looking impressive for 6 months but a little agressive with the retail cards.  Kudos!

I say absolutely!

I started with 5000

3 months in HP TU new limit: 10100

another 3 months in HP TU new limit; 17200.

Went very well for me, as always YMMV.

I had the exact same experience: started at 5k, increased to 10.1k almost 4 months later, increased to 17.2k another 7 months later (today).
