I'm happy to report that I've closed my Wells Fargo Secured Credit Card. I wish I had read up on its limitations and shortfalls before applying and sending in a security deposit. The customer service is horrendous, the fees are outrageous ($20 flat fee for cash advance no matter how much the amount), and there's no guarantee of graduation. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. I've never dealt with customer service representatives who were so disinterested and lacked the most basic social skills.
On a side note, my Wells Fargo checking account is currently on "hold" pending an "investigation" shortly after I have closed this credit card.
You don't think that was retaliation do you?

Why would a lender retaliate?? It depends on how the accounts are linked and whether the deposit (if any remaining funds) would be remitted back to that account. Unless the investigation points to something else altogether.
OP - the secured CC served its purpose and looks like you made the right decision - plenty of better options out there for sure.
