Your credit report has some age, and your FICO scores are pretty good right now. Odds are very high that you will get much better limits now from NASA and Alliant.
Um, if they happen to ask what starting limit you want, say $25,000. No, I don't expect you to get that much, but just be prepared to say that if necessary. Let them counter with as much as they can.
No doubt you will be limited by not having experience with higher credit limits. But you won't get experience with high limits unless you are willing to ask for them.
I got denied, for the NASA FCU Premium Cash Back Rewards card. I am pretty sure its cause I have a LOT of inquiries from getting my car a year ago. Any other reccomendations to where that wont hurt me, I only $2K CL
Would I just be better off asking for capital one to increase my limit?
Hell yeah, hit that love button.
I am not really sure what you mean by that, but A lot of my inquiries have fallen off and the rest will fall off too, After I get this card I won't be applying for anymore credit for a year or more
Based strictly off your scores alone, they are borderline good, and not really conducive to higher limits. And we don't know the whole story. Baddies in the past still on CR? Bankruptcy? Any financial difficulties? Ability to pay bills on time? That's the whole picture with credit.
A well-stocked emergency fund (liquid assets) would be better in this case but it doesn't sound like that's an option.
I applied for a car loan before having any credit history a year ago, it put 30 some inquiries on me, I didn't know until after may, I got a loan through Chrysler Capital with 22% APR on my car, I can't refinance my LTV is too high. In may we discover our car didn't have A/C so we called the place and then they pulled credit again to get a more expensive car with another 8 inquiries or so, since then I have put little to no inquiriess on my car.
My cards follows 2 synchrony store cards one toysrus card $2K Simply Mac $2K and a secured capital one card $200 Capital one I have been paying on for 13 months almost 14 months. It carries a $25 balance. One of my synchrony cards I just got, before my car accident. My simply mac card has a balance of $287. I've been paying on that since september. My utilization is good, bills are always paid on time, its getting this car, that messed me up, I have good scores. My EQ the only one being lower than a 720. My other two are both 722. My credit is good other than the inquires and length.
Also to add, despite the struggle to pay bills in the past when we had a death in the family we always got them paid and on time too, that was almost a year ago.
