Why would the APR matter? Unless you are planning to carry a balance?

Because, an unexpected emergency could come up.  I am apping for mortgage, but if one of cats have emergency, or moi, it's nice to have short term interest at below 10.5%. JMHO.

Right, but many people here try to do it on every card, rather than just getting one (or OK, two) cards low for emergencies.  So, IMO, a lot of this is more "because I can" rather than against any real need, just as the "padding utilization" justifications for CLIs get less plausible as total CL exceeds say $300K

Getting an APR reduction is an allowable activity during gardening, ergo, a useful time sink for itchy app fingers Smiley Happy

Re: What a MESS with Discover!

You were declined for the offer bc you already had a Discover product, technically. However, Discover it is O% during the intro. I don't see a Discover it product anywhere that charges interest in the beginning. Do you have any screenshots of your approval or a screenshot of the product you applied to?

Re: What a MESS with Discover!

I remember when OP asked about choosing between Discover and Amex and I said good words about Discover customer service and now I feel really bad.

Sorry for your bad experience.

The way I see it, it does not matter much if you do not want to carry a balance and just pay in full every month. Low APR sure feel nice but at least my goal is to not pay a dime to them on the interest.

No need to feel bad at all.  I wanted to get as much feedback as possible with both companies and it just went a little whacky with Discover.    All will be fine and I'll work getting the APR down much lower in a year or so.  Until then, I'll be paying it in full anyways!
