My current limit on my NFCU Visa Platinum card is $1,000. I've seen that 3x is the recommended request for an Amex CLI. Is this a good rule of thumb in general? Should I ask for a $2,000 increase, for a total of $3,000?
Yes, 585 is my current score. I have a Capital One card that was over it's limit the last time it reported, but I've brought it back down below it's limit and that card will be reporting in a few days, so I am hoping that will give me a few more points. I've also lowered the balance on my NFCU card, so Navy Federal should see that.
I'm not sure when I opened the card, but I will guess that it's approx. 8 months old and I haven't requested a CLI before. I don't see an inquery on my latest credit report for the time period that I would have opened it, so I am assuming that it was a soft pull. How can I tell when it was opened? My oldest statement available online is for December, but I know I opened it way before then.
Will requesting an increase now hurt my chances of requesting a bigger increase at the 12 month mark?
I'm still in my mini-garden for the moment. I want the Capital One card to report and that should happen around the 29th (bill is due on Friday). I will be making my request on April 1st.
I don't want to kick myself just yet, but can I get some tips on reconning in the event the request is declined? Also, what's the deal with the one day and 3-5 day messages? Are they bad? Is one better than the other? I got the one day message when I got my car loan and it was approved without any additional information.

based on info from your other threads i don't think it would be wise to ask for a CLI. What little credit you have is maxed out, and you stated you don't really have any bills. It would be better to change your spending habits, get your util down, garden, and then request a CLI.
