What is a good first card to start with?

What kind of card for hubby?  He has auto loans but no cc, so he will need a card to get started.  What should he get with scores in the mid 600's

If he has no baddies I would try apping Discover and Chase Freedom.  Perhaps a GE card in there Walmart for the free TU with paperless, Lowes.

Starter card from Capital 1 (secured) or a card from Orchard.
