What is considered a high balance?

I have some balances I'm looking to clean up.

On a $15,000 revolving credit card, what is considered the "safe" zone to keep a balance?

Re: What is considered a high balance?

JMO here but I would think 7% to 9% of your credit line for maximum FICO scoring but I personally carry about 10% to 15% at any given time. I pay my bills after the billing statement right now but when I go to apply for my mortgage loan, I'll do all the little tricks to tweak my score... 7% utility- no recent apps- ect. Hope this helps.

Starting Score: 642
Current Score: EQ 773, EX 780, TU 777 (All FICO)
Goal Score: 800+

Cards: NFCU Flagship 50K, DC 30K, BCP 28.6K, Arrival+ 25K, Citi DP 22.8K, CSR 20.5K, TotalRewards 25K, QuickSilver 20K

It really depends, I might be confusing members but don't you have some REALLY HIGH CL's (Like 30-40k?) You probably wouldn't loose very many points if any if this 15k was on a 15.1k line based on the other very high CL low BAL cards.

Now if this is your only card you are going to see a very nice dig in score for having 100% util across the board.

Plus we have to take into consideration that banks are getting a "little" more laid back but still far from 2006 or way down on the 08-09' years.

I can tell you in 2006 I had a LOT of maxed out cards and I could still just keep getting CLI and more cards.
