What is the best way to ask for an APR reduction?

What is the best thing to say?

Are people more successful with a balance or without one?

For the people who have been successful, any advice?

FYI, it is a Barclays Barnes and Noble World Mastercard.  When my DH was paying the bills, I think he was a couple days late, and he said they told him to ask after FEB. Now I have taken the bills back over and want the best results possible.

Thing is, I just app'd for a 0% DM and got it with BT. As it stands at this very moment, Bal=$5881 CL=14300.  I asked for a $5000 BT, which would bring them to $881.

APR is 28.24%.

as long as your overall util is healthy, sure try a csr for a apr reduction after the next statement after the BT posts.

try something like I would like to use your card more but the APRs on my other card from x is y %.

Re: What is the best way to ask for an APR reduction?

I called amex for the past few weeks and each time I did get a apr reduction. I have a zero balance also.

I then went to citi and was also just as lucky. I received two in less then two weeks. I jsut told them I am a good customer, always pay on time, never been close to my limit, and most importantly, they are my go to cards.

Oh ya, I sent a secure message to citi the first time and the second time I called.

Re: What is the best way to ask for an APR reduction?

UPDATE:

I called Barclays today. They lowered my rate from 28.24% to 26.24%.  Two percent is not much, but it IS something. I consider the call to be a success.
