What is the furthest-back that most issuers will realisitically allow you to re-open a closed card?

What is the furthest-back in time (i.e., a month, months, years) that most credit card issuers will realisitically allow you to re-open a card you have closed previously with them, if you were to hypothetically contact their EO?  For example, has anyone had any success at all with reopening cards that were closed say somewhere between 4-6 years ago?  (The main reason I ask is b/c I had cards in the past that I was actually very fond of, but when they rate-jacked me astronomically during the time of CARD Act around 2009-2010, I had no other choice than to opt out, so I am wondering if there may be any realistic possibility that I might be able to reopen any of them, now in the present?)

I would go out on a limb and say that most lenders won't let you re-open a closed card, most say apply again.  Though there have been a few urban legends of cards being re-openned, but those are few and far between.

Years being closed is going to be tough if not immposible to reopen as terms and conditions most ikely have changed. They will tell you to reapply if you want another account.
