What's next?

Hey all,

I would like to know what cards would round out my list of cards and how I can get higher limits.

These are my current cards

Discover More- $5000

Amex BCE-$2000 (just opened, will do 60 day CLI)

Chase Freedom- $6000

Chase Amazon- $3000

Priceline Rewards- $2500

Capital One Rewards- $3000

I am thinking about trying for the AMEX Delta Gold and the Chase Sapphire cards as my next cards, as I really like that they have good travel rewards and bonus sign-ups. You can see my #'s in my sig. My utilization is under 5%. I PIF each month. My two goals are to round out my cards with some good travel cards and to get higher CLI's.

Any advice as to what I can do to achieve my goals please?

Re: What's next?

Okay well, if your util is low and you have not apped for anything in the past 90 days to 6 months and if you have a Chase checking account then the CSP, Freedom, Chase checking can be a potent combo indeed.

The CSP carries a nice Sign on bonus after min spend in 3 months.  I believe its 40K currently.

Chase is inq sensitive so if your okay on util and inq recently, I would start there and then go for the Amex Delta.  Additionally Chase Recon is pretty great and you are already a Freedom holder with a decent limit.  Smiley Happy

The risk I see is that BCE just being opened.

Thats just my opinion of course.

LOL.... Hi!  I think with your scores, your current limit with the Freedom, I think you'd be instant approved with a higher starting CL with the CSP if you applied and put your new income.  How long have you had the Freedom?  Also, I think you'd probably start out with a 8K+ limit on a Citi travel card too if you applied.  I will caution you tho... getting too many cards will lead lenders, even with your good scores, to start approving you with lower limits if you keep applying becuase of your credit liability with available credit.

Re: What's next?

Thanks I'm worried because I just opened Amex and got a car loan. I guess I will wait and then apply in a year or so.

I don't want them to close my acct but I do want that Freedom, Sapphire Preferred and checking acct combo! Smiley Happy

I don't think you need wait that long.  Who did they pull for the car loan? How many times did your CR get pulled also?  Most auto lenders pull EQ.   I think you are a go for the CSP already if you've had the Freedom for at least 6 months.

Re: What's next?

I got my first Chase credit card (the Freedom) in December 2012 was instantly approved for $7,500.I just applied 2 weeks ago for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and it hasn't even been 6 months. Was instantly approved for $10,000. I PIF each month also had about 2 inquiries (on Experian) in past 24 months when I applied. Was instantly approved for $10,000 starting CL. Income $60,000.

I say go for it and apply for the Sapphire Preferred. Use if for a year and if you think your spending doesn't justify the annual fee just downgrade to the regular Sapphire wi no annual fee. You'll love the look and feel of the CSP. Looks and feels amazing not to mention gets a lot of attention from cashiers Smiley Happy
