Do you have a preferred airlines carrier? Each carrier sponsors its own co-branded credit card rewards program. If you happen to travel with United a lot, in addition to the Chase United Explorer you can supplement it with the Ink Bold, Ink Plus, and Sapphire Preferred. If you often fly Delta, I would wait for a bigger sign-up bonus, but for now you can get the Amex Premier Rewards Gold with 50k points transferable to Delta Skymiles. If you fly AA or US Airways, I would get credit cards for both AA and US Airways since these two airlines carriers are going to merge.
