1K limit as I just recently joined Discover family a couple months ago. I'm gonna lay low for a few more months before I request for a CLI
Approved 11/15/14-$5,500 cl. 696 EQ(FICO)-4 inq/0 baddies, AAoA 3.2 yrs & 27% util.
I am so perplexed by the way that Discover handles their intial CLs and CLIs. They obviously have a system to determine everything, but I cannot seem to put it into logic.
I would say I had too many new account when I opened my IT, which makes a $1,500 CL reasonable, but low comparivitely to both my own limits and others with similar profiles. Fast forward 6 months and I have 2 new accounts (1 card within a month of the IT and a car loan within 3), 5 dropped inq, a jump of 20-25 points in FICO score (around a 740 now without policing balance, potentially a 750+), and about 2 times my limit run through and paid in full over the past 2 months. They still won't budge on my puny CL.
I am not about to waste a HP on a category card's CLI, especially when so many only get $500 CLIs. I just don't get how they are so conservative with a person with perfect history and all prime cards, and then hand out 5k+ limits to people with less or even shaky credit history.
My Discover IT for students limit is $1000.
I opened it August of 2013 and was given a CL of $500. Since then I've been given 2 CLI's of $250 a piece. Since attaining my everyday, freedom, and salliemae, I haven't used my Discover card for the last 8 months.
Mine started at $10k when my next highest limit was $1,600 from Merrick. It is now $12.5k
$11K, now.
Unless I get a SP credit line increase, that's where it'll stay.
Here's my experience with Discover so far.
Just got approved for 6,500 the other day - was instant online approval. I found out the credit limit in an Email 2 days later. The card showed up in mail that same day. Yes two business days was all it took.
I put 1k in the balance transfer section.
They only pulled equifax.
Myfico score of 700
I have a few 90 day lates on paid off car loan 2 years ago, and a 5 year old paid charge off on record.
Aaoa - about 2 years, maybe 6 or 7 inquires.
I have 2 cap1 cards that together come to 6500 limit if thet is where they came up with the limit, just guessing.
Called to activate just a bit ago - they are VERY nice people. I spoke to a lady in my city and she was very nice and helpfull.
Seems to me like a good company.
Just asked for $14,000 from $11,000 on wife's Discover It....They want a hard pull.
