What to do with Citi Forward?

Has anyone been able to convert their Citi Forward to another product? I've called them twice about this unsuccessfully. It's one of my oldest cards so I don't want to close it but after the devaluation it doesn't get much use. I've thought about applying for the Double Cash but they won't let me transfer my CL either.

Re: What to do with Citi Forward?

I finally closed mine this year too. I tried to PC a couple times, even asked the retention specialist they transferred me to about conversion and there was nothing available. He did offer to bump the rewards up to 4x TY points, but you can't even get 1 cent value per point with only the forward now.

It did seem like he indicated he could transfer my CL from the forward to my existing double cash but I didn't pursue it. So you might try to cancel after opening the double cash and see what they say then.

Have you tried social media (Twitter/Facebook)? I have had better luck in the past with the social media team but it is not guaranteed. They have not been showing me love lately either. In one breath they thank me for being a cardmember for 18 years and then tell me no (I wanted to change Diamond Preferred to Hilton Hhonors or Costco Everyday and they won't let me and they refuse to lower the APR of my Thankyou Premier).

They are hit or miss.

Just remember that Citibank will continue to report this card for up to ten years if you decide to close it so it won't effect your AAoA until it falls off your credit report; and by then you should have plenty of older accounts to offset it.

4x for a while or for ever?  If the latter, I would have taken it!

I'd keep it for sentimental purposes too especially if it was an old tradeline.  I still have a recurring $10/month to the local NPR station dropped on my Zync for a similar use case.

Re: What to do with Citi Forward?

I have mine auto-paying $0.99 to iTunes every month for extra backup storage for my various i-devices.  With the 2x back (Record Store) and the 100 bonus TYP every statement, that's 102 TYP back on a $0.99 purchase that I'll get to redeem one day a few years from now.  Smiley Wink

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! Great idea about the iTunes storage!
