I was 18 in college in 1992. At the student center they where offering a new beach bag if you applied for the green Amex.. I did and that became my first card.
I was 16 and got a MBNA Wachovia card as an AU with my mom. That lead to getting Amex Blue the day I turned 18 on my own, no co applicants. I still have that card which is now Blue Cash and is my main card still today.
I got my first credit card when I was about 19 and in college (late 90s). It was a Capital One card with a $500 limit and a high APR. I can't remember if it had an annual fee or not. It was one of those cards that you could pick your design from a preset selection. I choose one that appeared to be a closeup of a bright green leaf with water droplets on it.
I was an AU on my parents dept sore cards (Capeells, Macy's and Liberty House), I was 15.
When I went away to college, I picked up my own CCs -BoA Visa and then Amex Green, I was 18 and 19
Barclaycard when I was 19. Don't recall the CL, probably 100 GBP or less. They closed it (and my bank account) when I moved to the US a few years later.
