Hey just curious to know. What was your very first credit card, what year was it opened , what was your CL then and what is It to date?
Mine was a Bank Of America student card in 2000 when i turned 18. They gave me $1500, I had no clue about credit and did horrible things with it so I decided to close it. Im much wiser now!
My 1st credit card was US Bank starting CL was $500, I was 18 at the time. After like 4 months they gave me a CL of $1000; once I noticed that I figured that was a horrible thing for me to relize when I was looking at my bill. Sadly I made a huge mistake with the acconut it went in to collections, which I have recently paid off.
Gotta live and learn I guess...sadly I wish I didn't learn that way.
My first card was citi dividend with 2500 Limit and I have grown with citi.
Mine was a Cap One card with a limit of $200 IIRC, this was in 2000. It was a mainly black card with lightning strikes in the background. I remembered getting a letter in the mail from them, a pre-approval I guess I should say and you mailed it back with the lil sticker placed in lil box on the card design you wanted.
That was my very first card, didnt have much income working part time at the local grocery store and just out of high school. I wish I can go back in time with what I know now about credit.
ATT Universal MC, CL 2000...opened in 1995. I cannot recall when and why I closed it. It still reports and definitely helps my credit file age finely!
If you want to get technical about it, a bank account I opened my freshman year of college automatically came with a credit card for overdraft protection. I never used it to buy anything, but I wound up unemployed and used it for cash advances to pay my rent. That sucker's been paid off and closed since 2004, I think.
As far as credit cards that I've actually applied to get, the first one would be my Capital One Platinum Mastercard, opened this past February with a $500 CL, now a $750 CL (yay, Credit Steps!)
Bank of America Student Visa, 2001, $2000 CLI to $5000.
AmEx Blue For Students, 2002, $2500
Closed em both in 2004 when I signed up with Money Management to get out of debt.
Just opened Amex BCP which got backdated to 2002.
On my 18th birthday (when I didn't know too much about credit or inquiries), I applied for:
I don't use these cards anymore. I mostly use my newer, higher CL cards.
Wow, from many years ago...Chase visa..$500 limit in 1990. Was a college Freshman, who never learned about credit and how to use or take care of it. After a few years, learned a hard lesson about how to use it wisely.
Most recently an Orchard Bank MC $ 500 limit in March 2011. Have learned alot more about how/when to use credit wisely.
