Re: What was your 1st credit card?

Amex Optima in 1996 for $1300. I was young and it charged off in 2000 and I paid it off. Now I have a Zync, Gold, and BCP at $4000 all back dated to 1996.

Re: What was your 1st credit card?

I got three the minute I turned 18 (literally, I applied at 12:01am on my 18th birthday).

Citi - Student Visa with Cash Back. $3,000 limit. Current limit $18,000, now a ThankYou Card.

Bank of America - Student Visa. $1,500 limit. Current limit $25,000, now a B of A AmEx card.

Chase - Student Visa with points. $2,000 limit. Current limit $15,000, now a Freedom Card.

All are still open, and they've been joined by many new friends over the last 3 years. Smiley Wink

Re: What was your 1st credit card?

1994. $100, Chase; no job, in school, maxed it out ($100!) and went to a debt consolidation company to help me get out of debt bc I was afraid to tell my parents. They sent me home...

Re: What was your 1st credit card?

My very first CC was an AmEx in 1991, I was 21, I can not remember what CC it was (I am thinking the Optima) with a 1900CL, I was young and maxed the card out very quickly, my Father said "son, pay this card off and close the acct, you are not ready for credit yet" I took his advice, payed it off over time, never late and closed the acct.

Good thing I took his advice, I now hold two AmEx Cards, the Blue Cash and the PR Gold, both backdated to 91.
