Marshall Field's (long gone)... early 90's
BoA secured card. Then apped BCP before it graduated, so that's my first unsecured card.
Hello, great topic!
I received my first credit card when I was 19. I had just got done paying of a personal loan (only thing I had at the time on my credit history, though perfect) and decided it was time for a credit card. Me, being a know it all 19 year old thought I could apply for any card under the sun (even some under the moon). I disn't ask or look around for a good deal, I jumped the gun and failed.
In the same day I got denied by amex, discover, and another company (Chase, I think). I felt like poo. The next day I applied for a capitalone platinum card (without the annual fee) and got a $300 credit limit (I felt as if I wasted my time).
I have since upgraded the card to a quicksilver, gotten it to $6500, and form from 24.99% to 17.99%. I am still young at 24, but much smarter about credit.
Capital one quicksilver $6500, Chase sapphire $7800, Chase freedom $4000, citi thankyou preferred $2800, Barclay ring card $4000, bofa cash rewards $5000, discover $4000, amex blue cash everyday $9000, amex everyday $11000.
My first credit card ever was in 1998-a wells fargo mastercard since they were the first bank i banked with. I moved on from that card and that account when i got married in 2002. The stupidest thing I ever did was close all of my credit cards in 2007 when I seperated from my now ex-husband. If I had kept those I would have some very nice cards right now but alls well that ends well.
The year was 1983, just off to college. Got a JCPenney and a Sears card at roughly the same time. Back then, I don't think Sears took anything but their own card. Neither did most gas stations for that matter, so in short order I got Sunoco, Phillips 66, 76 and a few other gas cards. My first major card was, I think, a Citibank MasterCard somewhere around 1988.
Chris.
I got approved for the Citi Forward in 2011 when I turned 18 (but I'm not sure what it used to be called). $800 CL. Screwed up approximately 1 year later and it was closed at the beginning of 2013
My second card was much more successful - Chase Amazon since 2013 (despite my miserable unchanging $500 CL lol)
Diamond Shamrock (gas card) 250 limit. I was excited.
Back in 2007 or 08 when I was 18. Got USAA's platinum mastercard with a $500 limit. Big mistake but luckily my parents bailed me out and paid it down when it got close to being handed off to collections. Somehow Capital One also gave me a card that I eventually screwed up. Was shaky with the payments and they still gave me a CLI from $300 to $500.
My Discover IT card was first, new to credit, started at $500 CL, increased 6 months later to $750. I'm still a college student, so a low credit limit is still fine for me, I'm not a big spender, but I like the cash back on things I'm buying anyway! (5% gas cash back this quarter is especially useful)

Hey, mine's nearly identical.
First card: In 1990, I got a Hudson's card with a $500 CL. When Hudson's bought out Marshall Field's in the early 2000s, my Hudson's card became a Marshall Field's card. I moved to the west coast, and with no Marshall Field's around, I canceled my card. Soon thereafter, Marshall Field's was sold to Macy's. The parent company of Hudson's is now Target Corporation.
First non-store card: 1992. Citibank Student Visa. I was a baller because of my $1000 CL.
First rewards card: 1993. Citibank Dividends Card. 2% cash back on everything. $2000 CL. I paid my college tuition with it (~$10K/year).
