Whats a good first CC?

My buddy is 21, never had a credit card. The only thing showing on his report was an installment loan he paid off a year ago. He appd for a Chase Freedom because he banks through them but they denied him, even after the recon. Hes waiting on his account for Navy Fed to go through but any suggestions of a good card for him? 

i think its best to avoid Cap1 for him lol.

Besides Cap One, Discover also game me a chance to prove myself when I had no credit history.

He´s 21 so I must assume it would be easier for him.

If not, maybe the usual way with a secured card or geting him AU accs to increase AAoA.

PS. citi, chase and ge denied me with no history.

Tell him to wait for nfcu and to app for an overdraft LOC called navcheck as well as one of their ccs... nrewards or cash rewards. Then he should use those for 6 months before apping for other prime cards. He needs to app for amex zync before the end of the year to see if he has a shot at a 2012 member since date. Good luck. Tell him to quit apping because it will go no where right now.

If hes approved for amex as well as the two nfcu products he will have a great head start. I'm assuming he is active duty?
