Been wondering if this is a good time to make some moves or not:
Profile as of today via CCT:
EX 698 (a CO is still showing on this, hope to be removed as it has the others)
TU 725 (bankcard 8: 737, bankcard 5: 694, Score 9: 725, bankcard 9: 719)
EQ 718 (bankcard 8: 723, bankcard 5: 684, Score 9: 724, bankcard 9: 723)
Currently shows 13% util.
Blue Cash Preferred 11.5k since 2011
Cap1 Spark Biz 11.5 since 2011
NFCU 22k, instant 7k CLI request a couple weeks ago (not reporting yet)
Merrick (old Geico card) 1.7k
Couple Comenity cards, zero balances
My AAoA is 10 years, 8 months
I app'd and received a Amex Platinum a copule weeks ago, SP only (not reporting yet)
I have 2 INQ on EX and TU, 6 on EQ, (3 are from a new car in June)
Now, we plan on buying new furniture, so I do want to use some credit over the next couple months.
I'm wondering if/when I should attempt a CLI on Amex, or should I app for a new card through NFCU or elsewhere?
Will the new Platinum hurt my AAoA so I should app for another new CC while I'm at it?
I am a member at PenFed as well but have no credit products.
I am SE so IV is a bit tricky, however NFCU knows I'm good for it since both biz and personal are at their bank. I've gone through an Amex FR before where I had to give them 3 months bank statments and survived with no changes...
Any advice on cards or next moves? I was hoping NFCU new Amex would be hot but other than a prettier design the rewards program looks to be bleh.
Why not go for PenFed? with those scores, I'm sure you would get some nice CLs and a least two cards.
When I set that account up years ago they were real strict and put it on a restriction. So I will have to take a hit for them to make it a normal account. Will they use that same HP for credit considerations? I do have some baddies from last year when I got sloppy paying my student loans, the main reason holding my scores from being 740+ I'm sure.
If it's from years ago, it will most likely be a HP.
Pulled my EQ additional scores just to see:
bankcard 8: 723, bankcard 5: 684, Score 9: 724, bankcard 9: 723
The scores are good, i don't see you having issues getting approved for some cards. If you're buying furniture soon, you should go for a card/s with a sign up bonus if you can use the miles.
Probably a good time to go for Chase
OP - If you go to Chase, don't forget about the 5/24 rule. i'm sure you're ok based on what you said, but just to double check.
Whats the best chase card to have? Preferably one that does something I don't already get ha.
Well it depends, what are you looking for in the car?
