Looking at moving a payment due date so it fits in with my monthly bills a little better. Does that take effect during the current statement if no balance is due or would it start during the next billing cycle? If so, that one would be longer (like 6 weeks) because I don't believe it can be shorter than 30 days.
generally after the current statement closes. so yes next billing cycle
Current due date is the 25th and statement date is the 29th. Account has a zero balance. It's something that is used every other month for normal expenses. I bounce back and forth between that and another card for expenses, each gets paid off by the next due date so no interest. Would like to move the due date to the 11th/ closing on the 16th. Would fall into line if it starts as of the next billing cycle.

Only your CC company can tell you for sure. I would say contact them to find out when it becomes effective.
I just called and spoke with "Peggy". Here's how it works. My current statement has a due date of 8/25 and a closing date of 8/29. I currently have a $0.00 balance so if I change my due date now, it will take effect immediately. So if I change the due date to the 7th with a closing date of the 11th, the current statement will go longer and close Sept 11th. If I had a balance, the current statement would close on 8/29 and the next statement would be the one that goes long.
Most payment due date changes take affect in the next billing cycle. After that, you can only change the due date every 12 months. I just changed the due date on my GE card from the 3rd to the 14th. So this month, I have to pay it on the 3rd and next month it will be due on the 14th
For your GE card, did you have to give them a call or do it on their website? I think I looked for that on the site before but didn't see it.

I looked for it on the site too but never noticed that feature either. I had to call in and give them my info. They asked what date I wanted. They said it was unavailable and selected a later date. I agreed and the CSR processed the request. Call took literally 5 minutes. It was for my Living Spaces card
