When does the annual fee get charged? B of A

Recieved my first statement for my BofA secured card, and I haven't been charged the $39.00 annual fee yet. Do you normally pay the annual fee in the first few months after getting a new credit card, or is it after the first year?

Exactly one month after I opened the account. (10/9/11 opened, 11/9/11 AF assessed)

Technically it was the first entry on my second statement at least in the online interface listing.

Starting Score: EQ 04 561, TU 98 567, EX 98 599 (12/30/11)
Current Score: EQ 04 700, TU 04 731, EX 98 725 (05/24/15)
Goal Score: 700 on EQ 04 (01/01/16)
