Got the amex spg in the mail today, which needs 5k min spend in 6 months. I was approved for csp n hyatt also, so thts a lot of min spend to do.
My doubt: consider this scenario:
Jan 1, 2015: instant approval online
Jan 10, 2015: got card in the mail
Jan 15, 2015: activated the card n started trying to reach min spend
Will the 6 months clock start from Jan 1 or Jan 15th?
Shud i extend the activation of the card is what I want to know. Thanks a ton to all of you.
I called AMEX after I got approved for my Premiere Rewards Gold to ask about whenever the sign-up bonus starts and I was told by the representative that it is the day that the account is opened-- "So pretty much the day you applied & was approved for the card."

I PM'ed Chase about my CSP a few weeks ago and they said that the countdown begins the day that you are approved for the card.

Congrats on your SPG! I love Starwood properties! Do you have any trips planned or any ideas for your bonus Starpoints?
Begins the second you press that submit button.
Congrats on the SPG card.
So it starts the moment you were approved. Not when you activated it. So get to spending right away. A few bills should take care of that for most people. Unless you live home with moms. And no bills.
