When or should I apply for Walmart card or Discover More?

Hi everyone,

Been lurking here when I was looking for a card to replace my BoA visa so before anything, so I want to thank you for helping me choose my Freedom even though I was just reading countless threads about it!

I was just instantly approved for a AMEX BlueSky and have been reading about the Discover More and then IT but then I came across the Walmart card. The free monthly TU FICO interests me a lot and would be the main reason I'd be applying for it. My question is since I just applied for a credit card, should I wait a bit to apply for a Walmart card or just apply right now? Or maybe the More or IT? I would only use that on the 5% categories or ShopDiscover.com which I've read good things about.

*Also, if you were wondering why I chose to apply for the BlueSky instead of the BCE is because 90% of the time, I shop for my groceries at WinCo which doesn't take credit and I could just apply for one next year for backdating? I think it's called. Also, my BlueSky pre-approval offer was spend $500 and get 30,000 points opposed to my BCE offer which was spend $1k and get $250. I don't really plan on getting any other cards for awhile after these cards, except maybe a AMEX.

Where do you get 30000 points from or $250 ? Website says 7,500 bonus points– redeemable for a $100 statement credit for SKY and $150 for BCE.

WInco NO CC ? There is one by my house never been in it so it's just cash and Debit ?

Re: When or should I apply for Walmart card or Discover More?

Congrats on your new Amex BlueSky!  I think you could probably get both the Walmart and the Discover if you really want them.  I have Discover and it's a decent card and their customer service is excellent.  I don't have a Walmart card, but it definitely has it's perks - free TU08 Fico score every month, and I believe you can get a 5% discount on gas purchases at Walmart gas pumps.  The Walmarts near me don't have gas pumps, unfortunately.  Maybe someday....

American express pulled EX. and if you were instantly approved you should apply asap before that card starts reporting. The discover it is basically the same thing as the discover more plus the no late fee and other stuff that i didnt pay attention to because i PIF, i have the walmart discover too and the TU08 fico is awesome because it would prob be 10 a month to pay for the score.

@DeadSpider

The 30,000 points and $250 were pre-approved mail offers that I got in the mail and yep, WinCo only takes cash, debit, personal checks, and EBT. They took something else but I can't remember from the top of my head. You also have to bag your own groceries!

@CribDuchess

Thanks! The TU08 FICO score perk is the main reason I wanted it! It's a shame that I can't take advantage of the gas purchases either! The nearest Walmart

@iMacDrew

Took your advice about applying before the AMEX started reporting. I was approved for the Discover IT for $1.5k and $3.3k for the WalMart Discover which was a huge surprise to me! Time to garden now! Thanks again everyone!

Yayyyy!  Congrats on both cards!  Don't forget to sign up for the paperless statements in your online account for Walmart Discover as that is what triggers the free Fico score every month.
