Hi all,
the last time i applied for an american express card was on 8/19/2011 and i was denied. the letter said that i had a 650 credit score with experian, i dont recall the reasons for denial. Anyways, i want to apply for a zync card. i havent been late on anything in the past two years and my walmart fico scores reads 680. i have 5 inquiries on experian. i dont have any upaid collections, they are all paid. i have a 30,60,90 late, but fully paid about 2.5 years ago, and ever since, its been perfect. what bureau do they pull and should i apply or not?
Thanks!

AMEX almost always pulls EX for charge card approvals. Before you apply again I'd see if you can find your denial letter from last year to know what their reasons were for denial. You might be able to find it on~line at the AMEX application status website.
i just checked the site, after you told me, but it didn't come up.
Ok, I'd say that you have a chance at approval, but it is hard to know if the lates pays are too recent for AMEX's liking. You might be ok but AMEX approval are really hard to predict sometimes ~ they can be very quirky.
i think i'm going to wait until august of this year, that way the last inquirie from AMEX will be at least one year old.
Probably a good idea ~ you'll have a few more months of positive payment history as well, and the lates will age a bit more too....
but thanks for your help.
