But as others have said the benefit of waiting until Jan is you'll gain 11 months of backdating, so it wil be dated 1/13, instead of 11/13 as opening date. Not huge, but it is something. Don't know if the additional 3 mos makes a difference for approval w/them. I got Zync and Costco on the same day. It really comes down to your credit. Amex likes low util and very few inq.
I suppose depeding on what they pull. MY TU has 2 INQ EX and EQ have more..4-6 I believe. FWIW I apped during my first month of having the Amex green and got denied

I would wait for more time with your card -internal scoring is key with Amex. Give it a try after Jan plus the cardmatch offer is really nice.
Thanks,. In the meantime, should I run a few transactions through my Amex Green? This is completely offtopic, but I don't think a charge card will benefit me in the long run.
My credit history sounds similar to yours although fico around 680 and longer AAoA. I can tell you my history with Amex. In late June or early July I was approved for PRG but declined for BCP. In August I was approved for Delta Gold. In October I was approved for SPG and BCP.
Based upon my experience I think you have a decent chance of approval for BCP ... good luck!

Also, do they look for anything specific? Low utilization? Less Inquiries?
Will some baddies from 6+ years ago haunt me? They are set to fall off 6 and 7/2014 and a collections set to fall of 5/2007
Any replies appreciated thanks!
I apologize if there is already a thread for this.
You can apply when your ready
Amex policy
SP if denied
HP if approved
So really its all up to you when you think your chances are strongest for approval
More info needed tho
Scores
Total INQ in last 12 months
AAoA
scores I havent pulled but range from 650-700. 660 EQ from Cap1 last I checked. That has 6 INQ's. AAoA definitely under one year. my Cap1 is 2.5, Chase Amazon 1.25, the rest 3-4 months old.
Based on this I would wait another 3-4 months
1) to show history with Amex
2) To age the cards that are 3-4 months, INQ's and AAoA while increasing scores
3) For backdating purposes

I plan on apping in jan for the BCP. End of Jan, that way I'm have close to 4 months with amex and my inquires from sept 2013 look older and my AAOA will be better. Right now my TU is 676 I hope to have it up to 690-700 by jan
Good idea and when you do check out the offers on cardmatch...(lower APR and higher sign up bonus)..
Looks like I will be apping in January folks...let my accounts and INQ's age a little, increase AAoA and getting my utilization down to like 10% on each card. Also for maximum backdating. I know its all SP if I app now, but I'd like to increase my chances for a higher starting limit if I do get approved. AHH.
I have baddies falling off next June/July/August. I wonder if I should wait until then? The baddies will be gone, but I will have less total accounts..any advice? Would this help with a higher starting limit?
