So my 6th statement with Citi is on the 8th. I real 6 month aniversary is at the end of the month. Do I try for a CLI after the statement generates and I submit a payment? Or would it be better to just wait for an auto CLI some time? I don't really need more credit right now. I just have to make multiple payments to keep util low.
I have put about $3000 through the card since getting it.
Many on the forum belive after 6 months is okay to ask but I disagree. In todays credit environment six months is not a long credit history. if you do not need a larger limit then I would wait. I use multiple cards and allow balances of under 10% to post each month. Most of time it is under 5% because I do not charge that much on each card.
I see Andy's point, and I think that a lot of people, especially us rebuilders, would be better served by a little more patience. I don't know what your credit profile looks like. If you're not one of us rebuilders and you don't have anything negative on your reports, I don't see the harm in calling Citi and explaining to them that you prefer their card as your daily spend card but the limit is too low causing you to have to make multiple payments per month. They'll see your good payment history. Worst they can say is no. Is it a hard pull for Citi?
It can be a hard or a soft if done online. You don't find out until after. If you call they can tell you.
Not sure if I will request one yet or not.
If you click the credit limit increase request online-if it automatically gives you a CLI its a soft, if you get the form its a hard pull
usually from TU. On the bureau they pull it depends where you are located. I live in PA and for their softs they use EQ and for their
hard pulls they use TU.
DONT fill the form out or your asking for a hard pull. Depending on your scores they are easy to work with
though, I had a Platinum Select card that started with $5k and I CLI'd to $8k, I then apped for another Citi Card
and got them to combine the limits onto the older account and close the new one, my total CL was $22k after that.
Of course if you app for another account, your asking for a hard pull also just a pointer.
Maybe I will just "test the waters". Thanks.
I decided to go for it. Here are the results:
Congrats.
Did it ask for your HHI when you submitted the CLI?
