App'd for US Airways card today...got the 7-10 day review message. When do I call and recon? Today or do I wait till they send me the message denying my app?
thank you.
Called and denied...CSR said they want to see more use out of my new accounts. I have opened a few new accounts in the last year and they want to see how I use them? Also, said they wanted to see me pay off my last two closed accounts (CITI) ...about 13,000 in debt. My util is only 6 percent. Second time I've been denied by them in 2 years. Don't think I will try again....I have AMEX and USAA so I don't really need them.
How many new accounts and how long ago were they opened? I am trying to get an idea how long my new 7 accounts are going to hold me down. I opened 7 CC's in June. I tried Chase for a CLI and I was also told they need to see how I handle my new accounts. I asked how long are we talking about and the credit analyst said maybe a year or two!! Surely not that long?
I opened about 7 or 8 new accounts since last October. About 4 last year, and 4 this year. So, some of my accounts are going to be 1 yr old in Oct-Dec. She made it sound like a year was what they were looking for.
She asked me a ton of questions...like have a ever took a cash advance on my credit cards...what did i purchase on my credit cards...I was like, "huh...I can't remember everything I put on my credit cards". I try to pay before the statement cuts...that's all that should matter. Barclays is kinda weird!
OP have you thought about calling again for a second recon?
+1
I was just thinking the same thing. It could be that they will just require you to pay off the closed accts. But this rep sounds like she wasn't having a good day. I would call back and talk to a guy (mostly so you know you're not getting the same person again). Use the backdoor # and if a girl answers, hang up and just try until a guy answers. (Sneaky, I know. )
I got Barclay's Apple in November and my first rebuilder CC was in April, so that isn't very long. I did have a year of history before that w/2 secured loans at bank/CU. But still, I had a really thin CR file. The guy was very nice and asked me a couple of questions and then approved me for $2200.
Timing w/Barclay's does appear to be a factor sometimes. I think if you're bordeline and app during the holidays, you stand a better chance. Tons of people on the forum got approved and reconed CLIs last year in Nov/Dec.
Thanks for the advice. I think I will try that tomorrow. Bichonmom, do I mention that I already recon'd or just pretend that it's the first time?
