Well, they keep track of the phone calls. So, even if you don't say anything, they'll know. Maybe call and say that you applied for a CC and weren't approved and wanted to know if there was anything you could do.
Maybe some else will have a better suggestion? I'm not very creative when it comes to what to say to reps.
