Another reason to have cards around the same age is if you have to close your oldest card because they are unwilling to waive a fee/graduate it. When I closed my Fingerhut card, my Capital one was only a month behind it. I never had that, "I don't wan't to close it because it's my oldest card" convo. There's a difference between a first card being two years from your second one or two months from it.
Multiple cards for the WIN. They age together, inquiries fall off together, and hopefully, they grow in limits together.
