Earlier this year, I needed a car loan through USAA and their HARD PULL was from Equifax (only). So, I am going to be taking the BIG SPLASH this September and apply for two credit cards - upgrades from my Capital One's.
After doing my homework (thanks guys for the help, btw), I am going to apply for: 1) a CHASE (at minimum, CHASE FREEDOM card; at maximum, CHASE SAPHIRE PREFERRED); 2) and, an AMEX (at minimum, TRUE EARNINGS CARD FROM COSTCO and AMEX; at maximum, BLUE CASH PREFERRED from AMEX).
I will be getting one of those two CHASE cards and one of those two AMEX.
1) Which CRA does CHASE do their HARD PULL from? Only one or all three?
2) Which CRA does AMEX do their HARD PULL from? Only one or all three?
I ask, b/c EQUIFAX has the most HARD PULLS on my report (5); and TRANSUNION is my lowest FICO (684) at a 42% UTI. All three FICO's will be higher next month (Septmeber) when I apply as I lower my UTI to 7%.
Thanks in advance, as always.
Both Chase and AMEX have pulled only from EX for me for all 5 of my cars between the two.
Both those issuers randomy pick cra to pull from. Amex however is more reliably a ex puller but I have seen others being pulled for credit cards. If you Amex charge card, it will definitely be ex and if marginal, one other cra. Amex revolver is a bit more mixed. Chase on other hand is a crap shoot.
Chase has pulled Equifax for me both times. Amex pulled all 3 for my charge card application a few years ago, but just Experian for my Blue this year. The tri-pull was certainly due to my short history (8 months) and my high utilization (50%+). Of course, this was just my experience and YMMV.
That would be SWEET. Experian is my highest FICO(and most up-to-date, btw) CRA. Thanks
Both pulled EX for me. However, Amex was having issues getting through to Experian for my recent PRG app and wound up pulling TU - which resulted in 2 HP's.
Amex pulled EX for me and Chase pulled TU.
Amex almost exclusively uses Ex. By the way, if your utilization is still around 42% and/or your FICO score is less than @700, it will likely be a denial for this particular Amex product. Just make sure to get the back door # and try a recon. Good Luck!!!
Chase is random, known to pull all 3 equally.
AMEX pulls EX first, and if your EX CR is borderline then HP EQ and TU in addition.
Amex pulled EX and chase EQ.
