Well...It's been a short two years since I started rebuilding my credit.
I have just a couple of really bad baddies that won't drop off for about another year and there isn't anything that I will be able to do that would speed that up.
I have however, with the help of this forum, been able to bring my scores up to a respectable 680-700 depending on utilization reporting. Once the baddies drop off my scores should rocket up about 100 points. There are two FAKO sites out there that don't show the two baddies and my scores on those sites are about 780-800.
These are the credit cards I now have, date opened and current CL: (They are also the only items on my report except for the 2 really old baddies.)
Cap1 Classic SECURED 4/12 $1300
Bank of America 1-2-3 6/12 $2500
GE Walmart/Discover 9/12 $6000 (Yes, really! Started on 9/12 with a $500 Walmart card.)
AMEX Zync 9/12 $500 Hard Limit
Chase Freedom 10/13 $1500
Two years ago I opened the Cap1 secured card for $500CL and shortly thereafter boosted it to $1000CL. It now stands at $1300 with a few CLIs from Cap1. This card is now two years old and time for me to close this account and get my money back. I would however like to app for another Cap1 card to replace it first.
Which Cap1 card would you recommend? I like cash back and discounts.

quicksliver all the way. I am not sure if you would get approved for the no AF version. I reccomend going for the one with it and calling the EO like i did to have it removed.

Ive had it a month lol. The 3k limit is what they started me with. I have heard they give higher limits to people who have lower limits. Which is true for me they doubled my highest limit (1500). My score was around 680 and ulti at like 1%. I did not have any pre approvals or pre selected from them either. I cant begin to explain how good their customer service is.
I would apply for the one you are pre-approved for through the website... I don't trust applying for capital one cards without a pre-approval (at least the ones on the capital one website)
