Is there any card we could apply for and be approved?
IMO I would start off with a secured card and build some positive history, since predominately you both have negative histories. Public Savings would be a good choice since it will open a secured revolving account and will not check your CR's.
Other possibile secured cards which will check your CR's
CU (Credit Union)
Orchard
Citi
BoA
First Premier
Cap One
This is just a short list but can get you started on looking at your options.
Good Luck
Hi murphysmommy,
+1 to JM-AM's post.
While you're checking out cards (good move, btw), look at your options for cleaning up your reports. That'll help a lot. And a lot of us have been in a position where we needed to do that, so you'll get lots of helpful info.
On the Rebuilding Your Credit forum, you'll find "What Steps Do I Take?" and lots of other good info.
You should probably each get a secured card as individual accounts.
Credit Unions are usually good. Among the banks, I would start with Captial One or Orchard, if they deny then Public Savings Bank.
