I called the representative about my secured card and how it would eventually be upgraded. She said it would become an unsecured student card but she didn't know if it would be chrome or it card.
It should convert to whatever the current "student" offering is at the time of conversion. Now if you can after conversion switch it to a normal non-student version you would be poised for more growth than you will see on the student version.

It unsecures to the version you had.
Secured chrome to chrome
Secured IT to IT
Mine was a secured chrome and I pc'd to secured IT. Became an unsecured IT
You can change it if you want. It'll update after your next statement
How do you change it?

How do I get non-student version?
Product change it when it converts. I'm fairly sure they'll be able to do that unless of course you're still a student.

I'm freshman so I'll be a student for a while.
Dig through the minimum income requirements to see what the threshold is for the other cards. I think the Student one lets you make significantly less while in school and ther others might start out at 18K/yr or somewhere around there.

Simply hop on chat and ask to change your cards reward structure from the chrome to the regular it card. I did it myself and it took all of five minutes.

Actually I might stay for the good grades reward.
