Re: Who is inquiry sensitive?

I think that whether a lender is sensitive to inquiries will depend on your overall profile. There are some exceptions, but generally, what is too much for me may not be too much for you and so on. I have gotten approvals with 30 inquiries...the approvals are with decent limits. Other people could get denied with less.

While companies may give you several reasons for denial, it still depends on your credit picture as a whole which makes it hard to compare sometimes.

+1

Every lender has their own/different criteria and every individual's profile is different - even if there could be a slight similarity between 2 profiles, the oucome will still vary.

Re: Who is inquiry sensitive?

Is it being suggested that credit card companies don't show patterns like weight of inquiries in the approval process?

That'd be fairly odd.

If you get Barclays, or have gotten then, don't app for anything for 6 months and 1 day after opening the card! They are known to close without warning, and CLD! Be careful Smiley Happy

Forgot about them, LOL!

I assumed OP was only asking about new accounts.

Some could care less about inquiries and will keep asking until getting a yes.

I'm really conservative and only floated one App every 6 months while rebuilding. Between divorce and poor management, I'd messed things up pretty well. I really had to go slow, get an education, do repair, let time heal the report, and learn proper use of credit.

All of them do.  A lot depends on their proprietary algorithms and the weighted risks associated with your overal profile.

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?
