I read somewhere on this forum that if you are going for an app spree and want a barclay card it is better to make it your last app. why is that? wouldnt they then see all the other inquiries and if i get that card, i wouldn't wan another.
i already have a regular non rewards apple card and i want either the priceline visa or nfl card.
but i might also try for an amex. what is the easier amex card to get? my ex is much worst than tu. i have a colleciton reporting on my ex. ugh!
my tu fico is 695
if you have an unpaid collection reporting on your TU, i wouldn't apply for amex. chances are it's no go unless that collection is really old, and isn't for a significant amount of money.
I recommend Barclays last because they always report their account really quickly. I was approved last Monday and the account was reporting on my TU / EX 2 days after.
Letting other lenders see inquiries isn't as bad as letting them see a brand new account reporting.
also barclays is supposedly extremely app sensitive during your 1st 6 months they have been know to close close accounts for sudden ramp up in inq or accounts

Hey Ortz33__!
Barclays tends to be a little inq sensitive and typically, if you have a lot of inqs on your TU or you have some baddies showing, then it is likely that you will have to recon the approval using the backdoor number. If you have to recon the app, it is highly recommended that you have a good reason for the recent new accounts and that you not app any more cards for a 6 month time period. I like Barclays and they tend to give people a second chance with pretty decent limits to start. The cravat is that you not apply for any new accounts. It's not a guaranteed AA for new accounts but it's a good possibility if you were borderline for approval. It's even possible to have AA for new accounts showing up that they weren't aware of.. They almost exclusively pull TU and have been known to pull EX if a second is needed. I know that when I first got the card, there was a SP account review almost every month on my EX report along with my TU report.
With regards to Amex... they almost exclusively pull EX. If a second is needed then TU and they have been know to pull all 3 if you are borderline. If you have some baddies on EX, depending on the age of the baddie, you might want to reconsider apping for that Amex. There's a lot of info regarding Amex on this forum and their underwriting criteria. It is commonly noted that the Delta Skymiles card is probably the most lax in underwriting standards with regards to their revolvers.
Hope this helps!
thank you! ya i have a barclay card already and know about their issues. but to be honest at the time i got that account i did open 5 other accounts and they did not close my card. ACTUALLY best buy when it was hsbc noticed my new accounts and closed my card. so be it.
i have a few baddies on my EX. 1 collection that is $190. 2 paid charge offs. think id be a long shot for amex. i can only dream.
i want a us airways or nfl card. possibly even priceline from barclays. will be applying next month
