Re: Why is it so hard to refrain?

You've got to get your scores to the point where you see the diminishing return for another card. When the inquiries reach double digits and the next approval gives you less of a CL than the previous one, then you know it's time...

At that point you can begin to calculate your realistic changes of getting the better card that you really want. You'll come to understand that adding another 30-50 points to your score will put you into an entirely new level of cards. You'll see the advantages of "refraining" then.

Re: Why is it so hard to refrain?

Whenever I get the itch to app, I walk to my refrigerator and look at the picture of my dream house that I've taped on the door. Then, I come to this forum and read all of the approval threads. I guess I live vicariously through this forum. Lol

Remember credit is a calulated level of trust between a issuer and a borrower, don't betray it cause if you do it'll betray you in the end.

I call and request new cards once a year... tell 'em the magnetic strip is worn down (which is mostly true) and they send me a new card.

Re: Why is it so hard to refrain?

I know, I know! I want to app for Discover and Amex so bad and I know it's too soo. I have been app free since September. I added my 18 year old son as an authorized user to one of my cards last month so he would have history. Last night he applied for and was approved for his first credit cards, a $400 walmart and $500 cap 1 rewards.  I am living through him now!!!!!!!!
