For the individuals who are offered upgrades when their card isn't more than a few years old you just take it or not look back. There are few members here where their Walmart cards were four five years old and theyll close with an opening of a new card. It does affect their history.
In my case with my upgrade I received another MasterCard with a standing credit limit higher than a few of my other cards so I closed cabelas (500), earlier i closed sportsmans guide (2500). I am still in trimming the fat mode. Doing this will probably not affect my scores, it might affect scrutiny from lenders in my favor to not have so many low limit obligations
