My wife currently has one CC - it's a joint account between us, and the CL is $2500 unsecured. Her scores are EX 660, EQ, 637, and TU is probably in the high 500's or very low 600's (her last TU 04 score from December was 594). The card we have doesn't report to TU, so that's one of the reasons why there's a big difference in the TU scores.
She's looking for a CC to add to her mix. We always pay our CC in full before it reports, so there's usually no more than 10% reporting in utilization on that card. Here's a breakdown of the baddies still showing on her credit:

Credit Systems Int'l, Inc. | Collection | Collection Account | 03/2014 | X | X | X |

As you can see from the dates, these are all from 5+ years ago. With this information showing on her CR and her scores, do you think there are any CC's she has a shot with?
I do not think at this point that she can get any unsecure cards.
I agree, get some more of those removed or after the "fall off" date and she might have a shot at something.
Try to Macys, Old Navy, JC Penney and may be Target. They're pretty easy to get.
Ron.
You might want to look into Citi Secured card. They consider letting it unsecure in 18 months and, in that time, many of those baddies will fall off. What you are willing to put up as the deposit will be the limit on the card and Citi puts it into a CD for you. $29 annual fee.
What CCC doesn't report to TU?
Edit: Nevermind. Just noticed the Citi baddie she has. Not sure they'd approve with that.
