So my Amex is just over a month old and I have run though about $2,000 on it. My limit at approval was $9,400. I am going to go for 25k at CLI - 61 days. Not sure what I will get but will cap at 25k.
My question is that I am not planning on using it too much going forward...maybe a couple hundred a month...maybe. Do you think Amex would lower my CL for not using anywhere near 25k, assuming they approve that for the CLI. Could I drop below that original approval of $9.4k? I am not going to do anything to spook them nor will I app for anything in the future.
Thoughts?
No. I mean they always CAN, but I haven't heard too much of them doing it unless you get a FR or something like that.
I have hardly used my amex cards in the past year and the CLs haven't moved down at all.

I would not do a cli to 25K just for the lower utility purpose, it might hurt your chance to get your next card(s). I asked CLD my seldom used BCE from 20k to 2k just for that reason.
Well sure.. but if you did ever want another Amex it's quite simple to just say that you wanted to transfer your limit over if need be.

Agreed. Higher CL will always help and won't hurt.
I don't see Amex lowering CLs en masse until the next credit crunch or severe reccession happens.
So, may as well have a 25K limit while the economy is "good".
