No mortgage. Paid an auto loan 7 years ago.I just have 2 credit cards. US bank ($1000) and Capital one ($750)
What about opening dates? Are these aged accounts or fairly new? Inquiries?

I have both those accounts opened one year ago. I did start with US Bank secured card last year and they graduated me to non secured recently. (I am in the rebuilding phase over the past year)
Other than that, I didnt apply for any credit/loan in the last 12 months.

I just checked my TU and EQ credit reports, and it says my average accounts age is 5 years.
I did chat with a BOA credit card representative online and she suggested that I could apply for BOA Visa card, and if it didnt approve, I can open up a secured card. She said one hard pull to check and see which card I would qualify for.
I told her I will think about it for a bit and decide.
Any suggestions?
They counter with a secured card if you are denied... so go for it
It sounds good, I think you have a reasonable shot at getting approved. However if not, you will surely qualify for the secured card and it is a good one. Hope it works out and good luck.
Thanks for the suggestions friends.
I did apply and was told that my application was approved. so, that is great news.
However, I am kind of disappointed that he mentioned that the credit limit is going to be $500. I was hoping that it would be atleast $1000.
But, I guess I cant complain as they didnt deny me
Do you think it is a good idea for me to call the backdoor numbers and see if they can start me off with a better limit?
