I'd sure love to have an Amex. Maybe I'll shoot for the stars and give them a try. I'm on hold for them now. Can't believe they're open this time of night

your calling to apply for amex?
Yep. But they may keep me on hold too long.. it may have to wait until tomorrow. I'm also worried about another app causing USAA or Discover to yank my approvals they gave me. Is that possible?
I guess I could just do it online. I had figured it would be better to talk to someone. Can Amex be recon'ed if they deny?

Bear in mind that I know my EQ score is at 719, I suspect the others are also pretty solid. But I have a fair number of INQs as I just refi'ed my car, got a loan on a houseboat, the new USAA card, and the DIscover card. Plus a denial in April from Cap1 and in May a denial from Barclays before my score jumped over 700. And my credit history is short.. only a couple of months of secured cards and 2 car loans 15 months.
Chase Freedom seems to be very lenient right now. Not to mention that $200 sign up bonus. Please visit their prequal site and see if you qualify for anything first.
EDIT: Never mind the pre-approval link. I just saw that you have opted out. My bad!
Go for the AMEX!!! I did today, thanks to CreditAddict's encouragement! I was approved for $2500 on the EveryDay card and I only have 4 months of card history!!!! BTW, according to AMEX, my score was 730.
OK... I'm sold on Amex. Which Amex should I go for? Will they likely coounteroffer if I'm denied one of the premium cards?
Do a pre qual check with Amex, what do they suggest?
I'm opted out of prequals, so it doesn't tell me anything. Someone on here suggested that when I was rebuilding my credit - I'm not certain why, but I've generally found the advice given here to be solid. So the prequal checks don't do me much good.
