With my current profile, I am 99% positive I wouldnt be approved for any AMEX card. However, when I was younger, my Mom had me as an authorized user on her AMEX card to help me establish some credit before I was 18. If I had only listened to her, and paid my bills on time, I wouldnt be such a credit screw up! Anyways, the AMEX is still on my credit report as paid and current, but my mom ending up closing the card a few years back when real estate got slow and she fell a little behind.
The card was closed with a 28,000 balance on a 35,000 limit. She has since paid it off to my knowledge. my two questions are:
1. Does this hurt me in any way because of the high balance? Even though she never missed a payment. To be honest, I believe Amex closed the account on her because of the balance. It is by far my oldest account and is helping me in that category, so I dont want to remove myself because of that.
2. Would this past relationship with my mom/amex/me as AU, help me in any way to be approved for a card in the future? I have heard Amex doesnt take AU into account on approving or underwriting guidelines.
Any opinions are appreciated. I have a long ways to go before I apply, but I was curious about this past relationship. THanks!
I would say if it wasn't in your name then it won't help you in obtaining an American Express card in the future.

Were you able to get the card backdated?
