Likewise, for SPG points, I prefer to always redeem as "cash + points" option. The 25% Airline bonus isn't bad, but I still prefer allocate MR for air travel, and SPG purely for hotel redemptions.
the problem with spg points they are pretty hard to accquire if you are not staying at spg hotels. MR and UR are easier to accquire due to chase and amex having cards that can get you bonus spending. PRG/EDP for example and CSP/Ink plus can get your bonus spending to help you get more poitns easier instead of just getting 1 dollar per point or whatever it is.
