Re: ameriprise world elite, nope

well called for a recon again today. some very interesting events/information, but no luck.
1. the app reps seem to be a third party (not barclays or ameriprise). i'm thinking a contract service of some sort. i asked several times if she was a barclay's or ameriprise rep. every time the question was side stepped with the generic "we're a processing center".
2. you can speak to a barclay's credit specialist (previously told i couldn't)
3. i spoke to a barclay's specialist, she said she read the first notes and i was declined becuase i didn't list assest on the app (i don't recall a space, but if they say so), not becuase of the revolving balances too high response in the letter.
4. once i put her concerns at ease, she said she would forward my request for recon to the amerprise credit specialist and i would hear something in 24 hrs. i found this double underwriting very interesting.
anyway, about 30 minutes later i got a call from the ameriprise rep about my recon request in hopes of obtaining an account (i knew it was uphill at best at this point).
well i'm quized about why i don't have a longer account history. explained up until about 5 years ago the mrs. handled the financials, etc.. she the explains that most of my acounts are about 2 years old and alot of them only about 6 months. i said yes i am emerging from a period when all i had was sub prime accounts and i've been flushing out junk and obtaining products that would grow so i don't ever have to go through this type of product searching again.
she says well altough you have no negative information, you just don't have an established enough history at this time. have you had any accounts prior. i said yes, but like i stated they were accounts that my wife opened and they were closed because we never used them. how about an approval at a very low limit, just to get an account that can grow? she then says that in 6 - 9 months i would likely be approved, but i really don't have an established enough history. she then says that i've had a couple of accounts that are reporting as having gone over the credit line and that shows some distress. she then begins to list them.
i say yes cap1 did go over the limit, but like i said the mrs. handled things back then and honestly i didn't even know the account existed until it went over the limit. the beneficial loc went over the limit because when i opened the account the rep didn't tell me taking the limit would cause intrest to post and excede the limit when the first statement cut. amex, well they tried to say i was late on my mortg and when i called them on that they changed it to obtaining or refing in the last 5-7 and opening too many accounts, but i never went over my high limit of 4k.
she said sorry, but in 6-9 months you can try again once you have more history. so not once mentioned uti as a reason like the letter said.
oh and after i got off the phone i pulled cct and i now have pulls from barclay's on ALL 3!

It's a really nice card. You should try to get one again sometime. The AF is immediate. 1st billing cycle. It comes with Priority Pass airport lounge access.

Re: ameriprise world elite, nope

i'm not a huge hsbc fan, which backs the sak's card.

after the first of the year we'll see if they change thier minds. next time i'm locking down ex and eq, no more 3 pull declines for me!

Re: ameriprise world elite, nope

What is the difference between Barclay and HSBC? Both are subprime lenders which have one or two prime products.

Somehow, world elite MC has been given to lenders with questionable reputation.

Saks to HSBC

Ameriprice to Barclay

Sotheby to GEMB ( I believe this card is discontinued effective 01/2009)

So if two lenders with blemished reputation offer the same product, I'll take cheaper offer (no AF).

Sorry to hear about the deniel.  They told me the same thing the first time I applied and approved the second time I applied.  My account was transferred from Barclays to Ameriprise FSB.

Isn't the entry fee into club lounges $27.00 with Saks' PP?
