amex zync or green?

I have 8 months of history with a boa cc and a $1,000 cl, Just got a increase to $1,500 (because I chickened out on asking for more) but I work and do school but have a pretty nice income for being 19. Ultimately want a bcp but charge cards are supposedly easier to get, so I'm not sure which to choose only because I think in the long run the green would make the most sense as I hope to one day get gold and travel but right now I am definitely focused on the gas/grocery rewards my boa cc offers. The AF annoys me but the rewards on zync seem measily, and points in general are not my main goal-the bcp will replace the use of my boa cash reward card when i can get my hands on it hopefully by next summer :smileysurprised:

What do y'all think?

The rewards on the Zync card aren't too shabby if you can work the packs to your advantage.    I'd read up on the Zync and at least give it some consideration over the Green.  You can easily recoup the $25 AF with promotional offers during the year.

Re: amex zync or green?

You can also try Green for a year while the AF is waived and then downgrade to Zync. Have you checked the AmEx site for any special offers for you (cards, signup bonus)?

Current Score: EQ 741 12/2011, EX 734 11/2012 (PSECU), TU98 695 9/2012
Goal Score: 725+ across the board

Re: amex zync or green?

There weren't any offers specifically for the green so then I was thinking of doing a gold app for the first year fee to be waived, but my lack of cl & history worry me for the gold but not so much for green.

Re: amex zync or green?

Got invitation for AmEx Green, applied for Zync (and was approved -- $1200 CL on my other card, low income) instead because I couldn't justify the AF. $25/yr is reasonable enough for me to get my foot into the AmEx door and have backdating ready for the BCE or BCP.

Re: amex zync or green?

So if I apply for one of these and got denied, would that mean (because it was a hp and negatively affects my already lowish score) I should wait about a year to try again? Or get something like a discover to build with for a while?

How many inquiries do you have on EX? I applied every three months, third app was my lucky app.

Re: amex zync or green?

I don't think 1 inquiry will hurt you too much. If you are in no hurry, wait for the year mark with your BofA card to show a little more history. Keep checking for offers in the meantime.

Re: amex zync or green?

By the way, it is thought by some on these boards that the approval criteria for Green is the same as for the Golds. What are your FICO scores and why do you feel the are low? Sorry if you posted them somewhere and I missed it.
