I have had the amex zync card since early 2012 and would like to apply for the green or gold card. If approved will the new card backdate to 2012 therefore not hurting my average age of accounts? They only thing that would hurt a little is the inquiry if approved. Am I correct in this?
also thank you to all of you so much for helping me with my credit. I started around 580 score in late 2011 with 2 late cards of 3 months and 1 month. Managed to remove one of those thanks to this forum. My credit score is now 700 and continuing to grow. I am so thankful that I found this website!
thank you sir

If your not interested in holding the Unicorn card any longer I would wait until 4/15/13 and PC it to another card, they are making PC's eligible then for Unicorn holders. Saves you a INQ.

Also, if approved the new available credit will raise your overall available credit this lowering your utilization which will also help boost your score. . .
The OP is looking for another charge card and that would not help with utilization as charge cards are not factored into your overall util.
With regards to OP's question about not hurting AAoA, it obviously depends. If the OP's AAoA currently 1 year, than it won't hurt. But, it AAoA is anything greater 2, 5, 10 or whatever, having another account bakcdated to 2012 will not help it, it will hurt it.
